My Favorite Winter Olympic Athletes

1. USA Mens Hockey Team
Today the USA mens hockey team will face Canada for the gold medal...probably not something that many thought would be possible considering the strength of other teams in the tourney.  After upsetting Cananda already, the USA team looks to do it again today.  It will be a hard-fought game, for sure.  Tune in at 3pm today and catch the action.

2. Petra Madjic
Petra is a cross country skier who crashed during the warm-up for her race and still managed to win a bronze medal!!  During a training run, she slid off course and down into a ravene and severely bruised her ribs.  After finishing the race (winning bronze), she collapsed on the ground and started crying.  This is what the Olympics are all about.  Overcoming adversity.  Competing.  She is a tough athlete and someone I will always remember.

3. Aksel Svindal
Aksel is an Alpine skier from Norway who won the gold medal.  His story is that he crashed badly a couple years ago and many thought he'd never ski competitively again.  Here he is, winning the gold!  Another awesome story about overcoming adversity to compete hard and do what you love.

There are many other great stories...the Canadian figure skater whose mother died two days before her competition, and many others.  It's nearly impossible to watch these athletes without being inspired or motivated in some way.  I've thoroughly enjoyed it.

Now...GO USA!!   Let's finish strong.
