Opening Weekend

We went 1-1 at our opening weekend at Springfield College. We defeated SUNY-Cobleskill 3-1, after losing the first game.

We then had a break before playing the host team, Springfield. The first two games were extremely close with great plays on both sides of the net. We won those games. In the 3rd game we were up for awhile, but Springfield came storming back and we didn't answer the challenge. We ended up losing the 3rd game, and the 4th. Springfield got off to a fast start in the deciding 5th game. We came on strong in the end but, it was just a little too late.

Overall I was pleased with our performance on the day. Some particularly bright spots were: first-year Sarah Blagden played terrific in the Libero position. first-year OH Emily Guthorn had 15 kills vs. Springfield and played great defense, and our Senior RS Emily Borsting played great and was named to the All Tournament Team.

This week we head to Brandeis!
